About Julia

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with ten years of counseling experience. Some of my specialities include supporting clients with chronic anxiety, perfectionistic tendencies, low self-worth, or a history of trauma. I also specialize in working with survivors of sexual abuse.

Currently I am licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania which allows me to support clients who relocate for college or work.

In 2017, I graduated with my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I received my B.A. in English Literature from the College of William & Mary in 2011.

Prior to entering private practice, I worked as the lead adolescent therapist in a partial hospitalization program running psychoeducational and therapeutic groups. I also spent several years working with a group practice where I provided therapy to adults, teens, and children. During this time, I developed a special interest in working with clients who are high achieving, self-critical, and anxious.

My therapeutic approach draws from Humanistic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Existential Therapy. I emphasize the importance of developing a self-compassionate mindset as a foundation for a more peaceful and grounded life.

I grew up in Northern Virginia and am familiar with the unique challenges that come with living in a highly competitive environment. I live in the area with my husband, daughter, and our two corgis. When I’m not in the therapy office, I may be reading, hiking, or planning our next trip.
