A gentler way forward.

Therapy for anxiety, perfectionism, and self-critical thoughts so you can feel more grounded, connected, and at ease.

Somewhere along the way, you learned to be really hard on yourself. On the outside, you appear to have it all together but inside you’re struggling.

Welcome to my practice! My name is Julia Bettge and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with ten years of experience helping clients improve their lives and find relief from mental health challenges.

Many clients come to therapy confused about where to start. They feel burned out, overwhelmed, or stuck. Some clients struggle with a sense of purposelessness and some cannot seem to form satisfying friendships or romantic relationships. Anxiety can manifest as trouble sleeping, restlessness, difficulty focusing, and a pervasive sense of dread. Depression leaves you feeling tired and hopeless. I help clients who struggle with rumination and intrusive thoughts understand the roles these mental patterns play and figure out how to shift and release from unhelpful compulsions.

At the heart of my therapeutic approach is nurturing a self-compassionate mindset. This leads to greater self-acceptance and healthier connection with others. I am a humanistic therapist which means I focus on the inherent strengths of each client and help to facilitate personal growth and self-actualization. I deeply believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful psychotherapy and is a driver of change. When treating anxiety and/or depression I use evidence-based interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also use Behavioral Activation and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to target social anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Our successes and failures come and go — they neither define us nor do they determine our worthiness.
